The Power Of Prana for Healing

All that exists in the three worlds rests in the control of prana. As a mother protects her children, O prana, protect us and give us splendor and wisdom. —Prashna Upanishad 2.13

Prana is a Sanskrit word that means life-force and is part of the Eastern Indian Spiritual tradition. It is one of the many names that subtle energy is known as throughout world cultures.

This same subtle energy is called chi in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and ki in Japan, reiki in the Usui healing system, vital force in homeopathy, olodumare in Yoruba medicine, and mana among Hawaiian kahuna healers. The French philosopher Henri Bergson, labeled it élan vital linking with evolution and the development of consciousness. Chiropractors call it innate intelligence, and naturopaths use the term vis medicatrix naturae. In the mid-1850s Baron von Reichenbach spoke of a vitalist substance that permeates all living beings, including plants, humans, and animals which he called the Odic force. It is known as kundalini in Hinduism, a concentrated field of cosmic energy that propels life and encourages enlightenment. In the 1930s a subtle energy researcher named Wilhelm Reich assigned it the name orgone, which he perceived as a sort of living ether.

Pranic Healing is a recent manifestation utilising awareness of Prana’s existence from ancient times. It was created by a Chinese-Filipino energy master and spiritual teacher named Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui in the 1980’s after he researched and studied various esoteric healing systems such as chi kung, Kaballah and yoga with view to developing an ‘optimum’ healing system that was easy to learn and use. According to the Medium.com website he also cross-correlated his findings with two Filipino clairvoyants named Mang Mike and Mang Nenet. Grandmaster Choa established the Institute for Inner Studies in Quezon City, Philippines, and three years later, the World Pranic Healing Foundation.

Pranic Healing Process

A Pranic Healer utilises and works with prana to transform, balance, and harmonise the body’s energy processes.  This invisible bio-energy or vital energy keeps the body alive and maintains a state of good health. From a Pranic Healing perspective the body is a self-repairing living entity that possesses the ability to heal itself. This healing process is ‘accelerated by increasing this life force that is readily available from the sun, air and ground to address physical & emotional imbalances.’

“Life Energy or prana is all around us. It is pervasive; we are actually in an ocean of Life Energy. Based on this principle, a healer can draw in Pranic Energy or Life Energy from the surroundings.” Master Choa Kok Sui

Where Does it Come From and How Does it Work?

Prana exists in all things and thus it can be drawn as new life force energy from the sun, air, earth, trees and the great all-that-is. It comes into our body from the food we eat, the air we breathe, and from absorbing the energies of the earth and the heavens. A practitioner is trained to draw on this energy through meditative and practice techniques that allows them to direct this healing energy towards a client.

Pranic Healing works on our bioplasmic or energy body, not directly on the physical body and requires no drugs or gadgets, in this sense no physical contact is required. Our aura, or energy body, is the mould or blueprint that surrounds and interpenetrates the physical body. It absorbs life energy and distributes it throughout the physical body, to the muscles, organs, glands, etc. Pranic Healing works on the energy body as physical ailments first appear as energetic disruptions in the aura before manifesting as problems in the physical body.

A healer, utilising Pranic Healing, scans a client’s body with their hands about a foot or two away from the person to locate any areas that have an energy imbalance or blockages in the client’s energetic anatomy. This differs from Reiki healing which might involve seeking permission to lay our hands on as part of a healing.

Essentially Pranic Healing seeks to sweep away and cleanse all unwanted energy out and away from the auric and chakra system. Because it does not require physical touch it can be used for distance healing working with our quantum universe to carry out healing with intention.

After scanning and locating the areas of disturbance, the healer then removes the negative energy before projecting new and fresh life force energy into the body to replenish and restore it.  Once the negative energy is gone, the healer projects new and fresh life force energy to the body to replenish and restore it. When restoration of energy happens in the body, any negative emotions are released in the process.
